Dopo alcuni scontri col nuovo nemico nel futuro di Trunks, Goku scopre che Black Goku è in realtà Zamasu, un apprendista Kaiohshin del Decimo Universo, arrivato da una linea temporale alternativa dove ha ucciso Goku dopo aver scambiato il suo corpo con quello del Saiyan stesso usando le super sfere del drago.
