La teoria copernicana prende nome da Niccolò Copernico che nel 1543, anno della sua morte, pubblicò il libro De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (Sulle rivoluzioni dei corpi celesti). In esso si postula che il Sole si trovi immobile vicino al centro del sistema solare e dell’ universo.
