Chi sono i ribelli sciiti Houthi?

Gli Huthi (in arabo: الحوثيون‎, al-Ḥūthiyyūn) sono un gruppo armato prevalentemente sciita zaydita (il gruppo annovera però anche dei sunniti) dello Yemen, nato nell’ultimo decennio del XX secolo ma diventato fortemente attivo, in funzione anti-governativa, nel corso del XXI secolo.

Perché è scoppiata la guerra nello Yemen?

I combattimenti in Yemen sono iniziati nel 2014 quando il movimento ribelle musulmano sciita Houthi ha preso il controllo della provincia settentrionale di Saada e delle aree limitrofe. Gli Houthi hanno continuato ad attaccare arrivando a prendere la capitale Sanaa, costringendo Hadi all’esilio all’estero.
